Mahamevnawa has a monastery in New Jersey — one of only a handful of Theravada forest monasteries on the East Coast. Mindfulness in Buddha's Way is the weekly online extension of that same tradition: monks teaching the Buddha's original words on mindfulness, live on Zoom, every Tuesday at 8:30 PM Eastern.

We study the Mahā Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta — the Great Discourse on Establishing Mindfulness — passage by passage. It is the text that gave rise to every mindfulness tradition that followed. Coming here is coming to the source. Free for everyone, always.

The Mahamevnawa monastery in New Jersey draws practitioners from across the state and the greater New York metro area. For those who have visited the monastery, sat retreats there, or simply felt drawn to the Theravada tradition, Mindfulness in Buddha's Way is the natural midweek continuation — accessible from home, no travel required.

For those new to the tradition, it is an ideal entry point. Buddhist monks who have dedicated their lives to these teachings guide each session with patience, clarity, and no expectation of prior knowledge. The Mahā Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta is a complete roadmap — body, feelings, mind, and mental qualities — and we read it slowly, week by week.

The 8:30 PM Eastern Tuesday session fits easily after a New Jersey workday. Whether you are in Middlesex County, Bergen, Essex, or anywhere across the state, the Zoom link opens the same door. The monastery is there when you want to sit in person. This program is there every week.
