Meal offerings.

Since the Buddha’s time, a monastery’s daily life has been supported by lay people offering food to the monks. In exchange, monastics share the teachings and offer spiritual guidance — a beautiful system of mutual dependence that has held the Dhamma together for more than 2,500 years.

How It Works

Three simple steps.

01

Pick a date

Choose a breakfast or a lunch, on a day that works for you. Morning meal is taken around dawn; lunch is taken before noon.

02

Prepare the meal

Bring the food ready to serve — or arrange to cook at the monastery. Vegetarian fare is welcome; dietary specifics can be discussed with the meal coordinator.

03

Offer & receive

Offer the meal to the monks, share it, listen to a short teaching or blessing, and bring any questions you have about the path.

Each day, lay supporters have the opportunity to offer breakfast and lunch to the monks, listen to teachings, and ask meaningful questions about the path to inner peace.
